2022-2024: VIOLENCE

This Body of work explores the impact of violence on individuals and communities. I am drawn to the emotional and social effects of conflict, and my art seeks to raise awareness about the need for empathy, understanding, and healing. A central theme in my practice is identity—not as something that separates us, but as a reminder of our shared human experience. I often reimagine historical paintings in today’s context, using them to connect past struggles with present-day challenges. Through expressive brushwork, bold colors, and strong symbols like outstretched hands or broken forms, I aim to convey both the pain and the hope of our times. Working across painting, drawing, and installation, I create layered narratives that invite reflection and conversation, encouraging viewers to think about the world around them with greater compassion

My visual practice navigates the intersection of cultural memory, food traditions, and socio-political resistance. At its core is “A Feast of Identities”, an ongoing painting series that explores the diverse culinary heritage of Northeast India. Through large-scale,detailed works, I depict regional dishes not only as sources of sustenance but as vessels of memory, migration, and identity. Drawing from Dutch still-life painting and contemporary food menu aesthetics, I reimagine traditional compositions to honor the rich food practices rooted in community, ecology, and ritual. Food Ingredients are not merely visual subjects—they are carriers of oral histories and shared resilience. My aim is to create immersive works that evoke sensory experience while fostering dialogue about belonging, ancestry, and cultural continuity. North-Eastern cuisine, with its diverse flavors and unique cooking techniques, shares strong connections with the culinary traditions of South Asian countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, and the Philippines. Ingredients such as fermented bamboo shoots, sticky rice, smoked meats, and fresh herbs reflect a broader Southeast Asian influence, distinguishing it from the more homogenized food culture of mainland India. Migration and cross-border trade have led to the exchange of flavors, cooking methods, and preservation techniques
